I’m booked to travel to Sweden on December 28th but am concerned about whether UK citizens will be admitted as a tourist.

Apparently Sweden has a ban on non-EU/EEA travellers unless you hold a residence permit or have some other connection with the country.

The relevant rules are stated here:

It’s been widely publicised that France has recently banned travellers from the UK, but I haven’t heard anything similar in the news about Sweden. I’m not sure if I’m reading this correctly, so I’d be interested to know whether anyone here from the UK has travelled to the country recently.

Germany has now implemented the same restrictions as France

There was an exception for people who enter via Denmark. I flew to CPH and got the train across perfectly legally. It might be worth checking if that has changed, but it was legal about a month ago.

Regardless of where you are travelling to, your first port of call (for information) should be the relevant destination info on the FCO website.

    Hi Chris

If you read the link that you posted, fully vaccinated British travellers can travel direct to Sweden. However keep an eye on things in case that changes last minute. Otherwise the route via Copenhagen worked for my mother in law when entry was closed for direct travel.

To everybody in a similar situation I found a brilliant guide – https://klm.traveldoc.aero/ – very helpful and clear – it is also updated daily.

    Thanks Tim,

I did see that the UK appears on the list of “approved countries”, but wasn’t sure if that was for all travellers or only for those with the exceptions mentioned.

According to my contact in Sweden the government is going to announce some further restrictions today, so I’ll have to wait and see how that will affect my travel.

Given Brexit UK is no longer considered in the EEA/EU batch.

The entry regulations differ for entry from:
an EU/EEA country, incl. Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Norway
    non-EEA* countries (incl. the UK)

UK is on the approved list:
    https://polisen.se/en/the-swedish-police/the-coronavirus-and-the-swedish-police/travel-to-and-from-sweden/#approved

“Fully vaccinated travellers holding vaccine certificates issued in one of the following so called approved countries/territories (attachment 2) at least 14 days ago, can enter Sweden” NOTE: I have withheld some the second sentence on purpose.

On your date of travel (28 December) there will be negative test required introduced in addition to vaccination status. Situation is still a bit fluid, but what I can gather is two-fold:
    1. It has to be no older than 48hrs from estimated time of arrival in Sweden (not departure)
    2. It can be Antigen test

    In summary:
    UK fine
    Vaccination required
    Test required
