I jyst completed a car rental with Alamo in Edinburgh. Alamo wanted £18 to reduce the excess from £1800 to £300, instead I bought a questor policy for £3 which covered all excess up to £5k
I think in reality were I have an accident, then Alamo would just charge me the £1800 on my card and I would have to seek it back from Questor so there would be a lag, but frankly for the saving I dont care.
Oh and BTW, the customer service and car from Alamo were both superb!
