Through baggage agreement US to BA

    I’m travelling from CHS to PHL on US, then connecting to BA for PHL – LHR in J Class. I booked them separately, with different PNRs. I’ve discovered that US has recently ended its through baggage agreement with BA meaning that I can’t normally check baggage through LHR from CHS. This is a nuisance, but people tell me that I can try and get the bookings joined together such that US might still thru’ check to BA if I smile sweetly. Any ideas on what the best thing to do? Can I get US to take over the BA reservation?
