Last September we reported that Deutsche Bahn didn’t deserve its reputation for punctuality.
The German government, concerned over the huge subsidy required for DB, told DB to pull up its socks.
Railway Gazette now reports that DB says it will improve its performance.
DB says it will “seek to improve the punctuality of long-distance services by 1.6 per cent to 76.5 per cent.”
That remains significantly lower than the punctuality achieved by our TOCs.
For example according to ORR one of our worst performers (LNER) achieved 78.5 per cent while VTWC was at 83.2 per cent, Cross Country at 86.4 per cent with East Midlands at 91.3 per cent.
And if there is a delay then our Delay Repay is Europe’s most generous.
