There are not many trips left like the one outlined in this excellent piece.

You Tube has the non reading version. Sounds an excellent adventure.

Sounds brilliant, cwoodward and, as I will be in Brisbane in February, already gearing up to persuade my other half that she, too would enjoy the ride!!

Reminds a bit of one of my all time favourite flights from Toronto to Vancouver.

This was back in 1987 and I purchased a weeks airpass from Canadian Airlines. This allowed you unlimited standby travel across their network and the route I took stopped at the following places

Thunder Bay (edge of great lakes)
    Brandon (in the prairies)
    Calgary (foot of the Rockies)
    Kelowna (in the Rockies)

8 hours on a B737 but I’ve never forgotten that flight as it gave me so many different views of Canada.

Another Canadian example – but going eastwards.

In the 1960s I would fly often from New York city to St. John’s Newfoundland. Air Canada (TCA in those days) actually called it the “milk run”: Montreal – Moncton – Halifax – Sydney – Stephenville (USAF base) – Gander (of course) – St. John’s. And, best of all, they used a Vickers Vanguard!

I forget how many hours it was, but who cared.

We also operate milk runs at AS. Trips will start in ANC and we work our way down to cities like KTN, JNU and then, ultimately, SEA. They’re neat routes, but as crew, the trips can be tiring.

When I read the headline, I automatically thought you were talking about the multi-step UK-OZ-UK multistop flights.
My mind raced to GA and the multi-stops on those route.
Sat in row 1 on a MD-11 First class seat. DPS-JKT-Medena-SIN-AUH-FRA–LGW.
First leg was on a A300 or 310 SYD-DPS with fully flat beds surprisingly.
    Early 90s.
