AMcWhirterParticipantRomania’s Blue Air enters “preventive insolvency procedure.”

transtraxmanParticipantThe important thing is that the airline continues operations…………
“Blue Air, between insolvency and preventive arrangement, continues operations,” (Aviation24.be 7-7-20)Blue Air, between insolvency and preventive arrangement, continues operations
………….but the question remains if the confidence in flying with that airline remains. That means would anybody be prepared to pay up front a “a non-returnable fare” four weeks or more before the booked flight?

AMcWhirterParticipantThanks FaroFlyer – I had posted the news above but my comment “awaits moderation.”
Until Covid-19 Air Asia had been a successful LCC on regional routes unlike Air Asia X which was the long-haul arm and has experienced mixed fortunes.
However regional travel has declined. Thailand, a major destination for Air Asia, expects to see an 80% drop in foreign tourist arrivals in 2020.

Cedric_StatherbyParticipantMay I suggest a change in this thread? Perhaps we should note the airlines that are not considered at risk? In Europe, Ryanair, and, er ….
It would certainly shorten the thread!

capetonianmParticipantWe could then rename the thread “Last Man Standing”

transtraxmanParticipantLevel France (based on the BA subsidiary Open Skies) is to go the same way as Level Europe. That would leave only Level Iberia operating. Thus long haul flights to North America and the French West Indies will be lost from Paris. Apparently Level Iberia will still fly to Boston, San Francisco and Buenos Aires.
“…it appears that the IAG Group is pre-emptively winding down LEVEL France.” – So the airline is not actually bankrupt yet. IAG is just cutting its loses. This operation, together with the closure of Level Europe in Vienna, just goes goes to show the mess this whole LEVEL operation was from the start. Nobody had a clear strategic view for the airline, the operations were a shambles and there has been no clear promotion of the airline. It seems that conflicting interests had their fingers in the pie. What resulted was an unclear mess and a lost opportunity. Remember that LEVEL was supposedly set up to challenge Norwegian long-haul. It made a poor effort at doing that while now it is laying out the red carpet for Norwegian long haul to make a comeback – if it can. Shame on the square headed thinkers at IAG.Other alternatives still exist.
“LEVEL France to end its activities”, (Aviation24.be 8-7-20)
“Reports Suggest IAG Will Close LEVEL France”, (Simple Flying 8-7-20)
Since LEVEL Iberia was profitable it is not going to be closed – as yet. Also it appears the options are being maintained to bring back the French arm of the airline. We will have to see how things develop.
