AMcWhirterParticipantWe hear little of LCC Malta Air.
Last year Ryanair’s MOL was saying that the carrier was hoping to carry five million passengers a year within five years.
A report in today’s Times of Malta says the carrier is making dozens of staff redudnant.

AMcWhirterParticipantBefore Covid-19 Air Asia (short- rather than long-haul Air AsiaX) was a successful LCC within Asia.
But matters have changed with today’s news that the airline needs to raise cash, staff are being cut and (within the copy) it’s reported that remaining staff will have their salaries cut by up to 75 per cent.

Two reports. One from Ch-aviation dated June 11

transtraxmanParticipantThis insolvency of LEVEL Europe is the result of the mishandling of this brand from the beginning. Even the webpage is a confusing mess. It seems the brand was launched to do battle with Norwegian but has done a poor effort with it. I wonder what LEVEL will now do that Norwegian has come out of its shell to do battle again in mainland Europe. Nobody really knows what LEVEL is and to whom it answers.
This is the official communique hidden away in the inside pages of IAG – not clear communication at all.https://cms.flyleveleurope.com/en/leveleurope
IAG has its work cut out to make its mark again. Maybe Willy Walsh should leave sooner than later. Let someone else make an effort. The potential is there you just have to release it.

I am glad it’s not just me, but neither the product, nor the strategy, nor the objectives made any sense to me.

I thought stupid meaningless names was largely de rigueur for LCCs. Wizz, Go, Wow …

AMcWhirterParticipantSun Express (Germany) to close.
I realise this carrier was not aiming at the business user but the news is significant as Sun Express (Germany) was a JV between two heavyweights: Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines.

transtraxmanParticipantIt is Sun Express (Germany) that is to close.
The sister airline Sun Express (Turkey) will continue to fly.
“Turkish sister airline SunExpress will continue to operate its own routes, its fleet consists of over 40 Boeing 737-800.” (International Flight Network, 23 June 2020).23 Jun 2020
