I think we’re in for a good price war now that V Australia (a Virgin Blue Group subsidiary) has entered the pacific route. V Australia is already offering direct flights from LAX (or SFO) to SYD. Naturally, Qantas is responding with roundtrip prices as low as $675. Delta is also expected to join and take this battle to another level.

I agree… I think we’re going to see alot of activity on this market this spring and summer.. UA has also moved their new configuration B744’s into this market from both SFO and LAX to SYD/MEL.. this aircraft type (747OC) has the fully lie flat bed in Business.. a huge improvement over their former C class product..
So, with the introduction of new carriers— like DL and new products in this market, I think the consumer will be a big winner this spring and summer going down under.
