Hello I am wondering if anyone is able to shed light on this.

I am flying LX F (BKK-ZRH) and LX J (ZRH-LHR), my connection is bad and will have to spend some time in Zurich airport. Will I be able to use the F lounge while waiting for my European J flight or will I need to use the Business lounge?

I have the option of flying TG F direct to LHR but would like to try the LX F product (albeit the old seats).

    Any comments are much appreciated.

    Cheers

You can definitely use the F lounge on arrival if flying first. I use it all the time from my long hauls connecting to either Milan or Lugano.

They will also take you by car to the plane if it’s on a stand or escort you through immigration etc if the plane is at a dock.

On entry most people turn left, but the lounge to the right is quieter and to the same standard. You can also use the Long Bar to while away some time in the Business lounge, but with direct access from the First lounge.

PS. Let us know what you think of it. I’m a big fan and the staff are always very helpful and courteous, but it’s nice to hear other opinions.

Thanks Luganopirate. Will definitely do this flight then. Is the F Lounge on airside? or do I have to clear immigration?

Everhopeful: Will try this product out and report back. Done F on TG and that was good, though think the service although very attentive needs polishing compared to big players like SQ or MH or Air NZ.

You will have to clear immigration as you are entering the schengen area, but it’s usually very quick and painless. Remember to follow “transit” and or connecting flights. You will then stay in the transit area and still be airside.

The lounge is by lift or stairs near the transit desks and security lines for gates A1-10.

They have showers and even en-suite guest rooms if your stay is a long one. Enjoy it!

    Dear kkflyer!

Swiss is still Swiss ….it reflects all the perfect values of (swissness)…..high level of professionalism and savoir faire in the air ,coupled with one of the best ever First Class products in the sky ..I do believe that Swiss and Singapore Airlines are the biggest ( in terms of value ) and most valuable gems in the Star Alliance bunch of carriers ….. I do endorse all the statements of the expert Gentlemen on this forum ..oh yessss..big time ,Zurich is a pleasant ,efficient airport too…

Thanks very much for all comments. I’m looking foward to my flight in July.

I have one more question, I am (since the first post) now going outbound the same as my inbound flight, which means I will be flying J into ZRH and F out of ZRH to BKK. Does the car service apply to to my arrival into ZRH from LHR? Any thoughts?

no, even HON circle members get arrival service everywhere except Zurich. They also have a tendency to want to get you to the gate very early in my experience but you can generally leave lounge later if you ask.

Well, kkflyer, don’t raise your expectation too much. Swiss lounges are quite basic. No comfy seats, no food (well there might be something they call food but hardly), no spa, well actually not much… If you are a BA Gold member, you might want to rather go to the BA Lounge in ZRH (located in their useless E Gate building where from long haul flights are leaving).

There is no BA Gold Lounge in Zurich airport. Gate E Lounge is a shared lounge – albeit one of the better ones. Reasonable drink selection, snacks and usually hot food — but not BA lounge standard.

The other point is that if you are flying Swiss to LHR or LCY it is usally from B gates, so there would be no point taking the underground train to E gates just for this lounge.

The BA lounge in Zurich disappeared many years ago.

The Swiss lounges are pretty good and if you can get into the one on the main concourse this is the best one. The one at B gates is pretty basic.

Thanks, degreecy. I forgot it wasn’t run by BA. So actually gold card holder would not have access if not flying OneWorld. In Geneva, we are actually lucky enough to still have a BA run lounge.

In Zurich, actually the B gates one is in my view less bad that the main one. Still poor though…
