This report was posted a few mins ago today by Germany’s Airliners.de.

I have provided a translated copy below.

A spokesperson for Swiss is quoted as saying it’s because of “Staff shortages at air traffic control and ground and airport service providers.”

Readers who have bookings with Swiss in the coming months must check their flight status.

    Translated copy:

Swiss has to cancel a number of flights in the summer flight schedule. The reason for this are staff shortages at European air traffic control and at ground and airport service providers.

It is a number in the “low, single-digit percentage range,” said a spokeswoman for “Switzerland at the weekend”. Among other things, flights to the USA are affected. In particular, connections to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago are to be canceled in July and August.

Swiss actually wanted to offer 80 percent of its 2019 capacity again in summer 2022. That would have been around 120,000 flights. Even with “only” one to three percent of the flight cancellations, it would then be between 1200 and 3600 flights that would be cancelled.
