In many ways the usual problems associated with Avro RJ aircraft, lack of legroom and poor seating but the displeasure was increased by the lax attitude to hand luggage regulations resulting in those of us who boarded last having nowhere to place even the smallest bag. Fortunately the flight was only an hour. Try and use a flight that has a more up to date aircraft is possible.

But one advantage of the Swiss RJ100 is that the aircraft’s seating is disposed five-across.

Most if not all other European carriers still operating this aircraft (and those like BA and LH who operated it in the past) configure the plane six-across although, in business class, the middle seat may remain unsold.

Yes that is true but that does not fix the problem of people being allowed to board with everything but the kitchen sink as hand luggage. As an example the woman next to me had a suit carrier, a wheeled bag, a laptop bag and a large handbag !
