For most people, flying is synonymous with holidays and dream. Airlines have been using this fact for their commercial videos. Some of them are really great. Here are my favorite ones.
I would be interested to know yours.

Emirates “Hello Tomorrow” campaign: classic but nicely made.

AirFrance “France is in the air” campaign: original.

AirFrance la Première: I just love it…

    CX “Life well travelled” campaign:
    Road warrior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykwTZjyqb8M
    > This is an amazingly accurate description of my business travels 🙂
    Miss Adventure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC3gHad4N5Q
    The family: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU1TAcgnejA

Finally, this video showing the new CX F lounge in HKIA is simply… great!

For most business travellers, flying is synonymous with work and being away from loved ones.

So no favourite videos for me, airlines are just my commuting method and the reality is 7 hours in a tube.

Travelling for work is still new to me. I have probably not travelled enough then 🙂

Then long may it glitter for you 🙂 After 37 years, I’m afraid the gloss went a while ago, although I still enjoy my time in different countries, I’d rather be anethatised in transit!

My least favourite are the ones that lead you to believe you are going to get some amazing new product, only to end up on the older version as “the new seats will be rolled out gradually over the next 50 years” and not yet available on your route.

For me every flight is an adventure and despite thousand of hours and millions of miles I love flying even if I’m a nervous passenger.

I’ve long ago realised that advertisers create illusions that have little to do with reality so I treat adverts as entertainment and my favourites are:

Virgin. Where the hostesses dressed in red and pilots walk through the terminal turning heads.

BA. London calling was brilliant as was the one showing aircraft through the ages.

I quite like the new Easyjet advert , with the song Disco 2000 from Pulp
To celebrate 20 years its comes up with this song with the opening lyrics being ” lets all meet up in the year 2000 ” which I said to my missus is a bit funny as they came about in 1995 ( 20 years ago ) !! So we discussed why use 2000 ?? And her take was that no one expected them to even get to the year 2000 , and we agreed that I bet most people would be thinking you would be off your rocker if you said in 1995 that Easyjet would be as big as they are today and basically booting BA out of the North Terminal and basically taking over Gatwick too .

The BA London Olympics 2012 ads (to the epic sound track of “London Calling” by the Clash – showing my age…!). A truly memorable year, a set of once-in-a-lifetime experiences both in London and Mongolia, courtesy of the Olympics, and the BA ads remind me of just what a fantastic occasion it all was. BA’s ads really got under the skin of the occasion.

Oh, and apropos another thread featuring great infrastructure balls-ups, London 2012 was an absolute triumph of British organisation and delivery.

The “Kiss Me Goodnight Sergent Major” from BOAC is still my favourite.

Ha, ha, ha! With the unerring benefit of hindsight, there are several rather louche and risqué asides in “Kiss Me Goodnight Sgt Major”…! It had me laughing uproariously.

It is also a source of immense regret that BA are no longer in the position to broadcast the Landor era “the World’s favourite airline” series of ads. Some of them were visually stunning as well as being pretty clever. And they introduced much of the world to the “Flower duet” from Lakme by Delibes. Still a delight to hear.

“Got everything you need sir” ?

Only one step away from twirling his mustache and affecting Terry Thomas impression.

The old early 1980s British Caledonian advert sang to “I wish they all could could be Californian” by The Beach Boys.
