FDOS, was speaking on behalf of a colleague who was meant to fly yesterday early afternoon but now not leaving until 17.30 tonight ! Hopefully !
Dublin was suffering similar problems to Belfast, most people who were able have grabbed a flight to anywhere in the UK to ake connections by Road/Rail then.
Martyn fastest non air journey from Belfast to say london would be ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan ( 2 hours ) then train from there, but pretty lengthy.
There must have been some airports open in England and a diversion to Birmingham, Southampton or Southend is possible for a rail connection to LON. LHR is chaos in bad weather because it operates at capacity for fair weather.
Given that this was probably the busiest time of the year all other routes would have been running at near capacity, also most of the other routes are served by Q400’s meaning that even if there were empty seats there would be very few available.
And Flybe passengers travelling Manchester-Southampton were delayed by almost one day because of foggy conditions at their destination.
Absolutely correct Alex some of our friends went via Glasgow to Southampton and arrived without baggage !
At BHD its not real BA but Swissport who seem inept at customer aervice !
