Friday lunchtime flight CMB to LHR.
    Apologies aircraft was A330-243

Fairly speedy checkin at CMB even though and 2 desks and through to the Serendib lounge which has over time started to become a little shabby. Small but lovely views of run ways, food selection adequate and rather tasty. An ideal lounge for up to 2 hours. limited wfc and shower facilities but again functional rather than luxury. The usual chaotic boarding but a clear welcome on board.

A small cabin with just 18 seats, 2-2-2. This is the one 330-200 advertised with flat seat beds, but as known to frequent UL flyers, they recline almost flat but at a very funny foot angle dangling down, but it is still possible to have a fair sleep with the cushion/pillow and usual static blanket, no other bedding available.

Overall service is adequate and they have returned to the old practice of an open trolley way of serving meals, which does mean that it is possible to view all items but the end result is coldish food. However it was rather tasty, and plenty in supply supplemented with snacks in between meals.

IFE very old fashioned with poor picture quality in desperate need of upgrade. Overall a good functional seat with limited sleeping ability, inflight service not overly ambitious, but with UL you know what to expect and if its better then a gold star.

Having flown UL since 1985, the longing for the old 1st cabin does not fail, even the brief stint they had with a 747 and trips to Sydney. A fairly good flight met my chauffeur drive.
