Or, rather, travel oddities you may have experienced!!

I have just driven down I-5 towards LA and part of the drop down into the LA area, just after the Angeles National Forest, includes a stretch of road where the two lanes cross, so that, going south, the lane switches to the left (and, of course, the opposite occurs going north). Never seen that before and having trained myself to think “drive on the right, drove on the right”, also somewhat disconcerting!!

Has anyone else come across oddities during their travels where things operate totally in a counter intuitive way?

A bit off topic, but it reminds me of some toilets in the old LHR T2 gate areas which had a properly printed BAA logoed sign saying they were for the use of arriving passengers only.

Arriving for the first time at Riyadh in the early 80’s and needing the bathroom, I was surprised to find it full of ladies. Embarrassed I left to see men entering what I thought was the ladies. I’ve now learnt in Saudi it’s women who have the trousers and men the robe!
