TominScotlandParticipantLugano, that sounds like exceptional service from Swiss.
My own experience and that of many friends and colleagues is that KLM have industrialised baggage delays via Schipol to a scale not found elsewhere and so must pay out a fortune in courier charges each and every day. They could extend MCTs but that may loose them marketing advantage, I guess.
I may be lucky but I cannot remember the last time luggage was delayed while travelling through T5 (including cross-terminal). Certainly not in the last 10 years and that is where very many of my transfers take place

SwissdiverParticipantLP is probably recording over 300’000 status miles per year on average with Star Alliance airlines, which would grant him top M&M status. Lufti and Swiss are treating Hon Circle members exceptionally well…

capetonianmParticipantOne of my areas in my ‘day job’ was supervising maintenance of MCT tables, more complex than it seems particularly in the case of a multi airport city. There are so many variables, and the airlines always want the most favourable (i.e shortest) Elapsed Flying Time based on these tables.
Here’s the one for LON for example, of course you can narrow it down by using airport and airline codes. (I suspect that posing it here will garble the line breaks).
I sometimes to look at these things and think : “You’re having a laugh!”

MarcusGBParticipantI would never book or accept flights with anything less than a 90 minute connection at Schiphol / Amsterdam. Even though they have one of the best baggage systems in Europe under the airport. KLM especially board long haul flights 50 minutes before, and European flights 40 mins before.
Many Flights to the UK from Gate 6 for CityHopper, need bus transfer, so have 40 minutes when you begin to be moving, with a much earlier cut off time compared to boarding at a gate with a bridge.I have flown KLM for over 25 yrs, and never had baggage go missing or delayed via their with Intercontinental, or European connections. Out of all the Airlines, and all the Airports i have found them one of the best. But the UK being the opposite certainly at LHR and the volatility at LCY with weather and such of its structure, i find more of a delay due to them going into AMS. I just go earlier and enjoy the Lounges, as a reward and relax.
I agree these less than 1 hr connections place too much probability on something going wrong with so many variations possible, and should be removed from their booking systems especially if you travel with hold baggage.I hope you will be due some compensations for this whole journey from KLM?

TominScotlandParticipantIt would appear that KLM is engaging in somewhat dubious practice in relation to passenger rights -if this report is to be believed (Simon Calder is a reasonably reliable source, I think).
Things go wrong, we all understand that but being economical with the truth like this is a pity.
