I am sure that many of us who have been unable to take our usual trips in the past year have accumulated air miles, hotel points and so on and don’t know if we will be able to use them before they expire.

I was delighted to find that some points from hotel stays in Japan can be converted into tranches of 1.000 yen and donated to the Red Cross.

It might be possible to donate unused amenity kits, airline pyjamas and so on to your local Ukraine appeal.

If they are not asking for them, consider donating good items to Red Cross shops or your chosen charity and if you are a taxpayer they can implement Gift Aid.

There are also travel organisations which are matching any donations, such as the Tripadvisor Foundation

The World Central Kitchen provides food for families in need.

For Ukraine, it is working at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland and has now expanded its efforts to serve people across the region in Romania, Moldova, and Hungary. WCK is also partnering with restaurants inside of Ukraine to get hot meals to anyone in need.

The Tripadvisor Foundation is supporting WCK in these efforts and is matching an additional $250,000 in donations, on top of the previously-matched $250,000.

It is also possible to donate through AirBnB, though worth reading this piece first to decide on the way to do it
