Shangri La at The Shard (review) and goodbye.Back to Forum
Are you able to ensure this stays near the top of the threads please?
I don’t think Mrs Michael should have to struggle with starting a new topic….
Yes, we can do that. MrMichael’s daughter has been in touch. MrMichael has offered one of his treasured models into the next annual charity auction later this year. (Photos are attached)
The model is of a British Airways A320 (G-TOGG). The model is solid resin, with a stand. Its length is 46cm, height is 23cm, and wing span is 42cm.
His daughter said “Dad always liked your magazine, forum and the auction, although he always regretted never having won anything in it. I know he would be very pleased if this item could be in the next auction, and make a few bob for charity. He tells me that 100% of your forum users are huge BA fans and therefore hopes bidding would be keen. I think he was being ironic here as he was laughing when telling me.“
Just to provide the link to this item in the auction, it is here15 Nov 2017
FYI, I tried to start this auction off with a £50 bid, but the system only allowed £15 – I had a lot of time for Mr Michael and £15 looks a little insulting.
Any chance you could override and increase my bid?15 Nov 2017
Just to get back on track on this thread, having spoken to the charity for this year’s online auction, we have created a Just Giving page for those forum users who wish to donate to charity in memory of MrMichael, but who don’t necessarily want to bid for the aircraft (as discussed on this thread: https://www.businesstraveller.com/forums/topic/business-traveller-online-charity-auction-2017/)20 Nov 2017
I have just looked at the JustGiving page and I see that a total of £60 has been raised by 2 contributors.
I realise that some people may have put in bids on the BA model aircraft, but I think, ladies and gentlemen, that we can do better than this.11 Jan 2018
The auction has now finished, but we’ll keep the Just Giving page open for another month or so, in case anyone who didn’t managed to win the model plane still wants to make a donation.15 Jan 2018
Having not participated in this forum for some time, it was with great sadness that I read this post. May I offer my condolences to Mr Michael’s family. I hope your memories of, going by his posts, a man of knowledge and humour are of comfort to you. X19 Jan 2018
