You can currently transfer American Express Membership Rewards points in the UK to Continental Airlines mileage scheme.

However, from September 30th, this relationship will end.

As United and Continental will be merging schemes from the end of 2011, you might have two small pots of “orphan” miles which in themselves aren’t enough for a decent redemption opportunity, but when combined might reach a useful amount, but possibly fall just short of a premium reward.

So it’s worth taking advantage of this opportunity to transfer MR points into this scheme before the window closes for ever, especially if like me you prefer to credit your star alliance miles primarily to a UK based scheme.

Just a reminder you should be planning this transfer now to ensure you meet the deadline.
