Aer Lingus has announced it’s measures for survival:

    https://www.independent.ie/business/aer-lingus-announce-50pc-pay-cut-for-staff-amid-coronavirus-uncertainty-39059279.html

A 50% pay reduction for the duration of the crisis is severe, but possibly a better option for staff than job losses. Hopefully there will be a timely return to fuller capacity with a restoration of pay.

This is a very unsettling time for all of us.

Stay safe everybody, and hopefully in time we will once again be enjoying the freedom to travel.

To be honest if we are offered a similar temporary deal (the Independent article states it will initially be for April and May) at BA as Aer Lingus have had I will be happy. Many airlines are just ‘suspending’ operations and paying staff absolutely zero. Easyjet being told they will have three months unpaid. Virgin two months unpaid. Qantas at least three months unpaid. American Airlines F/A’s six, nine or twelve months unpaid.

BA pilots have reached an initial agreement with BA where they will take two weeks unpaid leave for each month of april and may. I guess this will then be reviewed later.

Us cabin crew are still awaiting our fate.
