Slightly getting away from the specific issue of RBA and quality/planes, its important to consider another point and it builds upon the point of MrMichael. In the Gulf/Malaysia/Indonesia/North Africa/Levant/Turkey all of these countries are heavily influenced by Shariah and use this as the main tenet of their legal/commercial code. In the papers there are many critical comments about ISIS and the potential links to Qatar. Is this going to make us stop shopping in HArrods and/or flying on Qatar Airways. We all swoon over Emirates/Etihad but they are in countries where Shariah is part of the law. For those of us who oppose Capital punishment does that mean we should stop using American banks/travelling in GM or just stop going to America.
These are all personal choices we make or choose not to make.
I dont have an answer and neither do i pretend to have one.
In Brunei, there are many who question this new approach but many are comfortabel with it because they know that it will never be applied.
Lets stick to RBA and the quality of their flights…
CrazyCanuck, you listed two countries as being influenced by Shariah law, specifically Indonesia* and Turkey. NEITHER of these two countries are influenced by Shariah law.
Turkey is fully secular.
As for Indonesia only Ache has laws that are influenced by Shariah. The rest of Indonesia is actually quite moderate with Shariah law only applying to Muslims and only when it comes to relationship matters.
Indonesia accepts and recognises 6 different religions and whilst Muslims are in the majority at about 87% they are for the most part very moderate, even compared to Malaysia.
