I think the 150 figure relates to people going into Government-directed quarantine, from the red list countries. Happy to be corrected if wrong. But all other travellers also have to go into quarantine unless they are exempt workers. It is quite a long list of those who are exempt, but certainly there will be many thousands who are quaranting on arrival – but at home or in other (non-Government) hotels. Such quarantine is automatic as there is no testing on arrival. Everyone (except those exempt) has to quarantine for 10 days unless they pay separately for the 5 day ‘test and release’ option.

    Hi. No, to clarify.

15,000 arrivals a day less a third who are hauliers and excluded = 10,000.

Of the 10,000, 150 have to enter hotel quarantine (everyone has to isolate as DavidSmith2 rightly says)

The actual number of Covid positive cases not known, however on the basis that everyone arriving in UK has had a negative test in the preceeding 72 hours I struggle to see how it could be more than a handful of cases.

By the way, have a look at CTM UK twitter feed to see that this is another private sector omnishambles, just like Chartwell/Compass ripping off the taxpayer on school meals.

People waiting on the phone for 2 hours, denied boarding as invoices for accommodation not appeared after days (despite money being taken in minutes…), poor food, paid for Covid tests not arrived etc.

Who would have predicted it (everyone).

Good job only 150 a day heading into hotel quarantine…..

SimonS1: CTM? I might have missed this by not reading every posting but CTM is/are?

CTM = Corporate Travel Management. The company appointed by government to run the hotel quarantine programme.

Twitter feed is a barrage of complains on poor administration, people on phone hold for over an hour, you know the usual private sector cost cutting stuff.
