CathayLoyalist2ParticipantWith the last 4/5 posts we seem to have resumed a sense of normality and humour, long may it continue. I also had a colleague whose surname was ´Head´ and you will not need three guesses as to his first name !!-

capetonianmParticipantIf we’re talking about inappropriate names, I ran a project in India once where two of my colleagues rejoiced in the names of Dikshit and Hemkunt. It was hard to keep a straight face sometimes but luckily we all used first names.
Then there were two typically petite and dainty Thai girls on another project, and as most of you will know, since Thai names are pretty difficult for Westerners, they all give themselves ‘nicknames. One was ‘Jim’ and the other was ‘Alf’ which sounded like two big hefty footballers or bricklayers and really didn’t fit the image. And inevitably there was a ‘Porn’, whom we called Porn Star, and a ‘Bang’.

SwissExPatParticipantMy view in all of the above is that the Balance of Information, social & polictial commentary and personal views on this Forum is just about right and I’d not see any great need for changes or further intervention.

I’d like to support your comment and add that further intervention could be damaging to what is a pretty decentforum.

So long as there is no holding, no rabbit punches and no hitting below the thorax, I have a feeling it will be fine. For any of the above I still feel the Being Angry thread is the right place.

capetonianmParticipantI have just reported a recent thread “Returning Bali Traveler” for inappropriate content since I suspected it was a form of promotion, as pointed out by ‘GivingupBA’.
What I did not know is that once you have reported a thread, it is automatically and immediately locked. I had wanted to add a comment to say that I’d reported but obviously having reported it, was unable to do so.
The moral of the story is if you wish to report a thread, you need to add your comment first, submit reply, and then report.
Once again, like a stuck record, I say that it should not be possible to report a thread/posting anonymously, people should have the courage of their convictions.
