Hi SimonS1 – we’ve made a change this morning so you should see the “blue thing” now doesn’t appear until the bottom of the webpage (rather than at the bottom of your screen)?

A regrettable but, in the scheme of things, minor inconvenience rather than having to wade through pages of spam postings. I’ll live with it.

It caught an awful lot overnight and not much got through – well, nothing actually.

It also caught a few of the regular postings, but mostly if there were links in the forum posts or attachments, so we’ll see what we can do about it.

And I’ll be watching it closely to release anything that gets caught – bit slow today because I just got off a delayed CX flight into LGW but sorting things out now.

    Indeed Mark. Much better.

I thought BT had been hacked yesterday. Couldn’t log in. Warning messages galore as attached.

    Thank you.

I get that sometimes when my laptop or device has been asleep, and then I open it up in a new wifi hotspot. I then see error messages like that, but once I connect properly to the hotspot, they go away.

I’m sure someone who understand these things can explain why it happens.
Good. I am sick of seeing adverts for fake passports, fake tits, fake money, etc.

    Thank you.
Oh, I’m not so sure Capetonian, always fancied a fake pair! Would certainly raise a few eyebrows 😉 😉 😉

    Posted again just now Tom.

Once again “awaiting moderation” as per screen shot.

Don’t you think this is getting a bit silly now?

Famous last words, I just got the awaiting moderation message for my last post!

PS. thanks Tom, Mark. Keep up the good work. Touch wood, apart from the captcha thing (which seems to be getting better) I’ve happily had no problems, and apart from the fake t.ts ones 😉 I’m delighted this spam no longer occurs.

As a small hint, when asked to click traffic lights for example, I used to click not only the lights but the poles as well, I think this is why I kept getting directed to multiple screens. Now I don’t, I’m not.

I love Captcha – a tiny mindless brain teaser every time I post…aaaah the simple things in life!

This awful Captcha thing seems to have reared its ugly head again. Yesterday and today I have had to fill it in on average 3 times per posting, and yesterday when I edited a posting it was 3 for the posting and 3 more for the edit.

I trust I speak for many of us when I say that I enjoy both contributing to and learning from this forum, but if it becomes a chore you will lose posters and credibility which would be a great pity.

Is it not possible for established and trusted members (I hope I am one!) to be eliminated from the verification process? I know that some of my views upset some people, but I am hardly likely to start posting adverts for fake passports/tits/Viagra/varsity degrees, penis enlargements, Russian brides, Nigerian scams ……….

(I wonder how many Captchas I’ll have to do to get this through!)

Edit : Answer, ironically …. 0 for the posting but it is asking it for this edit.

It is random, but in your case it will be because for some reason several of your posts got stuck in spam, and that then increases your score level and makes it more likely to require either CAPTCHA or awaiting moderation.

The IT people are looking at it, but on the plus side, very few spammers are getting through, and as I look this morning, the only one pending is a reply on the LATAM thread (which I’ve just approved) from a new poster on the forum (welcome!)
I know how frustratinbg it is because it happens to me as well – I’m in Moscow next week and on past experience it will CAPTCHA more than 50% of my comments.

I’m also going to try pressing Thanks on a lot of your comments. Obviously I am thankful, but it’s also to see if it helps.

I just had to go through about 8 screens of crosswalks, buses cars, traffic lights, lorries, fire hydrants, etc to make a post.

    It really is annoying.

    And 4 for this.
