Advance warning of a rail strike in Belgium next month.

A message on the Thalys website says that SNCB (Belgian Rail) staff are set to strike from 2200 on Thursday October 8 until 2200 on Friday October 9.

Thalys says that it “will face major disruption” and recommends that “travellers postpone their journeys.”

At the time of writing, Eurostar’s website was not displaying any such advisory.

But when SNCB strikes have taken place in the past, London-Brussels Eurostar services have either been disrupted or have been unable to operate beyond Lille.

The Belgian strike is set to go ahead.

Eurostar has now posted an advisory on its website.

During the time of the strike, Eurostar’s London-Brussels services will terminate at Lille Europe.
