“Qantas and Emirates are aligning their fuel surcharges on frequent flyer award tickets, closing a loophole which let travellers avoid hundreds of dollars in Qantas fuel surcharges by using their points to book a codeshare Emirates flight.”

Highly disappointing of Emirates to increase the fee, just 4 months after introducing it. It used to not exist.
Emirates FRequent flyers are loosers if the JV with Qantas

Can’t really be a surprise …Cartels will always act in their own best interest and not those of the consumer.

Those who believe their customers interest is not very well correlated to theirs shall fail..
This is european airlines curse now, they are failing because of that!

It appears a means by EK to claw back additional revenue from its loyal frequent flyers. Jet fuel has effectively dropped in price for the last year so I cannot see the justification for applying the charges? Perhaps the EK Fuel hedges were all wrong and they are having to get money for their wrong positions and ineptude?
