This is a targeted bonus offer that is being emailed to select Bronze. Silver, Gold or Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyer members (mostly Gold and Platinum members from evidence on two other FF websites I frequent). It appears at present that only Australian resident members have got the email, but I’ll post if that changes.

For the lower levels, the enticement is to help us get to higher levels.
For Platinum members, the pitch is to get to Partner Gold (2,100 status credits). For all, the additional Status Credits go towards current membership renewal (and uplift) as well as Lifetime status (Silver or Gold). It should also go towards the Loyalty Bonus (5K points every 350 Status credits)

Email will look like this for Gold members (with subtle changes for Bronze, Silver and Platinum members):

As an exclusive offer to a limited few of our Gold Frequent Flyers, you can now earn double Status credits when you book and fly on eligible Qantas flights between 13 April and 30 June 2010*

This is a fantastic opportunity to help you keep the benefits and privileges of your Gold Frequent Flyer membership for another year.

Just click once below and you will automatically be registered for this offer…

In addition to the Status credits you need to keep your Gold membership, your flights this membership year must also include at least four eligible flight segments with a Qantas or Jetstar flight number on your ticket.

Make the most of this offer, and you may even earn enough to achieve greater privileges with Platinum membership.

So book now and remember to include your Frequent Flyer number.

    Terms and Conditions:

This offer is not transferable and is only valid for Qantas Frequent Flyer number 005xxxx (edited by me)

    * Status credits are earned when flying on eligible Qantas, oneworld® Alliance airlines (American Airlines®, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, JAL (Japan Airlines), LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana and Royal Jordanian Airlines), Air Pacific, Jetstar or QantasLink services. Eligible flights for this double Status credits offer are flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number where Status credits are normally earned. Members must book and fly between 13 April and 30 June 2010 to earn double Status credits on flights during that period. Qantas may extend the offer. To be eligible for double Status credits, the member selected for this offer must choose to ‘accept’ the offer by clicking the ‘Register for double Status credits’ button in the main text area of this email by 30 June 2010 and must provide their Qantas Frequent Flyer number when booking an eligible flight. Extra Status credits will be awarded within 6 weeks of completed travel.

Note it is definitely a targeted offer, so check your emails.
