Qantas flights QF32 and QF31 LHR-SYD and SYD-LHR currently price at £8343.40 on the QF website.

The same flights, on selected dates and operated under the BA codeshares BA7372 and BA7371 are showing at £4295 in the BA sale for which fares have now been loaded:

Sadly for us, though not I suspect for the long-term sustainability of the aviation industry, MarekKallin, I think it unlikely that we’ll see the kinds of deals that 2008 and 2009 brought for a long time to come.

Too much capacity has been taken out of the system and, indeed, in particular from Qantas F cabins.

For now, then, deals like the one above, especially for those who are already in the market at £8k plus, will probably remain the most exceptional available.

– but, for UK-originators (especially those with BA shareholder discount), this new BA sale is probably still more attractive than the QF offer.
