Interesting mini thread above about collecting luggage from the belt. It’s rare these days to have your stub checked against the bag you are taking from the arrivals hall – one must presume staff costs are to blame. However, since we started flying ‘seriously’ in the 1950’s, I find to this day there is a high level of trust amongst the flying public – even although we numbered from the thousands then to the millions nowadays. Can this go on much longer I wonder? Only recently on a domestic USA flight I noticed the crew hand luggage was chained to the overhead bins using a sturdy padlock! I do hope this was an isolated incident and that this part of our positive humanity prevails.
