robertinobneParticipantFrom australia we had a bumper discount fare war before christmas in business class and premium economy. BUT ALL these fares had to be booked and paid for by 31 jan. All NEW fares since then in Business are all significantly higher by a minimum $1000 AUD. Premium however is still being discounted to both Asia and the UK.
I got an SAS/TG business fare from SYD to athens via copenhagen for $5000 AUD for August 2010 departure. That fare doesnt show up anymore. I also got a business class fare with V Australia (brand spanking new 777 ER) from Bne to Phuket in january return for a little over $2000 AUD its about $1000 AUD on SQ and TG in economy. Why wouldnt you go business class? and its direct !!!
For those of you who have noticed, YES INDEED nearly EVERY TG and SQ flight you take in business class, ALWAYS has a different cabin and some business cabins are worse than Virgin and Air NZ premium economy. The only carrier I have found on long haul to have the SAME Business cabin is Air New Zealand both their 777’s and 747 have the same cabins in both business and premium economy and they also serve business meals in premium economy which is a very nice touch from Hong Kong to London if money is a bit tight. Sometimes a business round the world fare is significantly cheaper than a point to point fare I have found especially on star alliance routes.3 Feb 2010

MarcusUKParticipantHi Robert down under…
Yes i found also great deals with VAustralia.
I leave London next week to Sydney using some Miles redemptions (Swiss / SQ),. but for the return bought a VAustralia Business ticket, SYD-MEL, then the direct Phuket B777-300ER, inclusive for AUS $948!.
That was around the £580, with PE being a little under £380.
Very competative, & I will be a supporter of their services if they are good, also to include JNB in March.
Helps with my Virgin Atlantic Gold card also, all very global these days.I think the TG review in BT magazine this month, presents an accurate state of the C cabins on the older 747’s…

AWARD2001ParticipantFurther to the TG discussion, BT’s recent review of LHR-BKK in C was not complimentary in that the old C product was in use (presumably down to equipment change). The “new” C is not particularly inferior to others, but certainly not the best.
I will find out for sure soon as flying LHR-BKK-KUL and return in C in a few weeks last time I did this they ran out of champagne in C before take off!4 Feb 2010

openflyParticipantIf you are looking for Premium discounts to South Africa, AF and IB have some excellent Business Class deals via Dial-a-Flight. AF are using the A380 from the end of feb and there are excellent deals from any UK point via CDG to JNB and onwards to CPT/DUR….. at least £500 cheaper than BA Club.
I always use D-a-F and they will try to match any quote.4 Feb 2010
