AMcWhirterParticipantI ought to make readers aware of *possible* industrial action at Air France and KLM next week.
Dutch media is reporting that some KLM cabin crew plan to strike on Monday January 8.
KLM staff are protesting about cost reductions (one less cabin crew on many long-haul flights).
More serious are reports that Air France pilots (unclear whether it will involve some or all pilots) plan a strike on Thursday January 11.
Air France pilots plan to strike over a “security measure.”
I must stress that the situation could change. Strike action could be called off nearer the time.
Here are many reports (in French language) regarding the Air France pilots’ strike.

capetonianmParticipantAF seen to be able to operate their full schedules even when 20-30% of their pilots are ‘en greve’. This raises a number of questions in my mind!

Edski777ParticipantThe strike at KLM seems to have vanished. KLM management and the largest union, representing 70% of the personnel, have struck a deal late Friday evening. The second largest union is to decide on Sunday, but is expected to follow suit. So Monday, January 8th, will be a day like any other in the blue skies.
All this seems to be accomplished in the very Dutch tradition of negotiating and ultimately reaching a deal that is mutually beneficial without a major disturbance to us, the passengers.
A system of co-operation between employers and unions seemingly hard to understand for many people from France, Belgium, the UK or Southern Europe, but effective and as a user of their services a pleasant and mature way of resolving disputes.6 Jan 2018
