Check In and Boarding at LHR ok on 6th March 2014, by contrast return from Manila on 29th March 2014 was an absolute shambles, check in tried to force hand baggage as hold baggage and then say you are over limit and try to levy an excess of 20,000 pesos (£275), N6 boarding gate too small for number of passengers, separate document and boarding checks and worse of all arriving passengers and outbound use the same main corridors too/from gates which resulted in a delay in gate opening of 30 minutes and 55 minutes late take off.

Seats are ok in comparison to other airlines economy class.

On board service very poor, food mediocre, outbound they unnecessarily wake you at equivalent of 2400 UK time with full cabin lighting to serve a second dinner, I know not why. Cabin staff “disappear” for hours with no regular fluid top ups this on a 14.5 – 16 hour non stop flights, marginally better on return from Manila.

Clearly cabin staff need training to Singapore Airlines or Emirates standards.

In flight entertainment was good with up to date films and a variety of music.
Any wonder I complained to the Philippines Tourist Board in London!

    Hello vicoleary

    Thank for the feedback.

You say that “seats are ok in comparison with other airlines’ economy class” …. But bear in mind that PAL configures its B777-300ERs 10-across in the economy cabin. That’s a tighter layout than carriers like QR, BA, SQ and CX who all maintain a 9-across configuration.

Judging by the long flight times you experienced, it appears PAL has still not gained approval to overfly Russia.
