Finally got round to pulling together my stats for the year after an impromptu Christmas escape…

    142 sectors

    84 airports

    – of which 16 new: INN, EAS, CLE, CFE, SUB, JOG, CGK, CTA, SGD, KRS, LUG, SZZ, HDF, TKU, YYJ, RDU

    – most used airports: LHR (42), OSL (15), LCY (12), LGW (11), CDG (10), AMS (10)

    35 airlines

    – of which 10 new: China Airlines, jetBlue, Garuda Indonesia, Skywork Airlines, Kenya Airways, Transavia France, Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Alsie Express (and technically Norwegian Air International and LATAM Chile)

    – most flown airlines: BA (49), AA (10), QR (8), AY (7), KL (6)

    New aircraft:
    Airbus A350-900 (QR, AY, CX)
    Boeing 787-9 (LA)
    Fairchild Dornier 328JET (BA/Sun-Air Scandinavia)

    Best new experience:
    – Qatar Airways First Class DOH-BKK [including lounge at DOH]

    Also impressed by:
    – JetBlue DTW-BOS/BOS-EWR [why can’t all LCCs be like this?]
    – Alsie Express SGD-CPH [great little airline operating low-density ATR72s in gorgeous matt black livery]

    Most ridiculous experience:
On Thomas Cook Airlines, only found out my LGW-INN flight was being diverted to FDH due to weather once on board when I’d asked a member of crew why video screens were showing wrong destination! [“Has no-one told you?…”]

Best airport: HKG – nowhere comes close

    Most impressive new lounge experiences:
    – QR Al Safwa First Lounge, DOH [more impressive than First Class on board]
    – QF Singapore Lounge, SIN
    – DL Sky Club, SEA [surprisingly good for a US carrier lounge]
    – BA/Comair SLOW Lounge, CPT [including “loo with a view” of runway]
    – AA Arrivals Lounge, LHR
    – CX The Pier First Class Lounge, HKG [great meal and massage]
    – Cibeles Lounge, MAD [best third party lounge I’ve ever used]

    Least impressive new lounge experience:
    – CX The Arrival, HKG [cramped/inadequate facilities]

    Happy travels in 2017!

71 sectors, vast majority to and around Asia

Best new experience? None really stands out, same old same as they say
Worst new experience? – nothing bad just mediocracy

Best airport? – still HKG with SIN coming very close

Worst airport? – LHR because it should be so much better,

New airports for me this year
    BFT, HAK, SYX, HPH

Well, it didn’t take long to count sectors flown last year.

1 new airport – KIX, 1 new airline – Air Arabia, and 1 new aircraft – CRJ.

Personally, the only remarkable thing about 2016 was that it was BA and Heathrow free!

    Must try harder in 2017.

    Happy New Year ?
