    You should try boarding UA at HKG en-route to SIN. Even in F-class you have to join the conga line down the jetway.

    @SimonRowberry The Indian system is simple: the border police at the top of the airbridge are checking to be sure that your bags have been stamped by security (and your boarding pass too); the people midway down the airbridge work for LH and are “randomly” picking people for a handbaggage check ; the ones at the bottom are doing a visa check and making sure you’re boarding the right flight. Of course, there are many additional showy (and pointless) steps if you’re travelling directly to the US.
