Yesterday evening there was a three hour bomb disposal operation at Berlin’s main Tegel airport which had to be closed down.
This airport is a congested facility handling very many flights.
During the closure many flights were diverted to Berlin Schonefeld (also busy) with a few having to taxi over to the apron at BER as both terminals share the same airfield.
But whereas those who arrived at Schonefeld were able to disembark (eventually) those who ended up at BER had no such luck because, as we all know, the airport is still not in operation.
The BER passengers were stranded on board their aircraft for hours.
As one passenger, who arrived at the empty BER, tweeted “where nothing is where nothing’s going on.”
Tegel eventually opened at around 23.00.
