National Rail MUST pay for our missed flights from #Gatwick Airport. It was a mental and unsafe situation for everyone. I’ve never seen a worse organisation. And there’s still loads of people waiting in #Redhill. Indignant. #nationalrail #nationalrailPAYBACK pic.twitter.com/L2IsiaxaJH

The other aspect of this Network Rail/Southern Railway shambles is that many of the passengers were flying from Gatwick, with suitcases and families. In view of this, why did Gatwick Airport Ltd not provide an army of staff to help their passengers. This is all third-world country stuff!
The papers etc are reporting that the ridiculous Gatwick Express fares were still being charged! It’s so easy to rip foreigners/visitors off. Shameful.
This situation is planned to repeat for the next two sundays. Perhaps, in an effort to avoid Redhill, it is possible to use other lines from Victoria-East Grinstead and onwards by taxi, or the Victoria/Waterloo trains through Dorking to Horsham and the catch the 200 bus from Horsham station direct to Gatwick. There is also the A3 (?) bus that goes to Gatwick from Victoria coach station.
Just to add, in the usual manner of Southern trains joined up thinking, on 4th March:
Buses will replace trains between Sutton and Dorking. London Victoria to Dorking services will not run. This means there will be no trains to Horsham that do not require a replacement bus service.
Easy Grinstead is an option; would strongly recommend pre-booking a taxi to LGW!
