BunnahabhainParticipantYeah I read somewhere else that 32 and 64Gb were to be the available sizes. Does seem strange, there’s usually at least a 2x capacity increase available with each new model.
The original 2G iPhone was 8Gb only then they released one with 16 (then the 3G with 8 or 16 and finally the 3GS with 16 or 32) so maybe this is the tactic – continuous quality improvement or something…

degreecyParticipantiphone 4 will be released in UK at same time. Pre-order starts on 15 June.
Available on 24 June. The screen is highest resolution of any phone in the market, apparantely its unbelievable quality. Also the addition of good quality video calling with the front and back cameras will make it very interesting. Nobody has got this right yet so people use it on other phones.

BunnahabhainParticipantDoes it include an infra-red transmitter? Would allow it to be used as a TV etc remote control without the need for relatively expensive external devices to be plugged in. Similarly, an infra-red barcode reader instead of using the camera.
RFID? – there was a trial a couple of years ago with a phone (can’t remember which make) in London with integrated Oyster. Similarly the paywave type of credit card reader devices in Pret a Manger etc at LCY.
An OS issue, hardly any of the current app icons are “real time” in their appearance, so the iPhone “desktop” isn’t much of a “dashboard” unlike the current Windows Mobile etc phones. Only the Calendar icon isn’t static, and only displays the current date at that. The Clock is permanently stuck at 10.15 and the weather at 23 degrees (some hope in the UK) – ok the digital clock at the top of the screen is in real time. Some icons such as Messages and Mail support “badges” which show the number of unread items.
Beginning to get jealous of some rival manufacturers’ current phones now in terms of screen to chassis area ratio and desktop customisation ability. When the original 2G iPhone was launched it was way ahead of the competition – guess it’s always a bit easier to be behind the race leader than out in front.
