    Hello,

I would like to ask something,

If you book your stay through a travel agent or another site except marriott.com you are not eligible to earn airmiles. But do they credit to you, your stay (in order to achieve elite status) and points to your account?

    Thanks

With Marriott, it is the rate type that governs eligibility, not sales channel.

However, if a rate is indeed not elgible to earn reward (points or miles) by virtue of the type of rate, then neither will it be eligible for the accrual of ‘night’ or ‘stay’ totals counting towards elite status.

The only benefits in such circumstances may be, at the property’s discretion, any on-property amenities that your existing elite status level can afford.

However, Marriott Reward members can still earn points/miles/nights/stays on public rates booked through agents and other websites than the company’s own. It is pre-paid ‘contracted’ rates that are not eligible:

Specifically, it is likely that the majority of pre-paid rates booked through the likes of Expedia (often called ‘Expedia Special Rates’), Hotels.com etc, would not be eligible for earning, but if the site sells a pay on checkout rate such as Marriott’s ‘Stay for Breakfast’ – then all benefits will apply.

Stays booked though ‘opaque’ sites such as Priceline’s Name Your Price scheme are non-earning, but again with Marriott it is the rate that doesn’t qualify – if Priceline allowed you to book a public pay-on-checkout rate through the ‘transparent’ side of their site, then it would qualify for earning.
