Regular readers will be aware that Marriott is in the process of combining its Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards programmes.

Account access was integrated earlier this year, and a new single brand name is set to be officially launched in early 2019.

But it looks like the name may have been leaked ahead of this, with various travel blogs and forums citing a test site (now taken down) which details the Marriott Bonvoy branding.

What do readers think about this new name, if indeed it proves to be accurate?

Sounds like a toy, device or cheap car to me.

think its a catchy and clever name… don’t think it will make a blind bit of difference to Marriot points

“Bonvoy” sounds silly to me. Perhaps they mean “Bon voyage”?

I’ve heard ‘Bon appetit’ shortened to ‘Bon app’ (by English speakers) so I’m guessing it’s similarly the contraction of ‘Bon voyage’. Personally, I think both sound ridiculous.

The leaks proved correct – the three rewards programmes will become Marriott Bonvoy in Feb

I know its early days but I am finding Marriott points are being added each time, but previously SPG, points take forever and 2 out of the 3 recent stays have had to be manually adjusted.

I know one of the SPG thread moderator from FlyerTalk & he was telling me the integration has been a complete mess and lots of people complaining..

I think the name of the revised programme is one of the smaller problems…

    I agree.

I recently (yesterday) received emails from both Marriott Rewards and SPG, congratulating me on confirming my email address and asking me to log in.

But I combined the accounts months ago, so I am very suspicious of the emails and have deleted them.

I didn’t mind referring to myself as a SPG Platinum member or indeed a Marriott reward platinum member but a Platinum ‘Bonvoy’? It sounds like a dodgy 80’s nightclub.
