MarcusUKParticipantI fly KLM as per usual, run with a different less confrontational philosophy, so no staff strikes. They are so damaging to the Airline in every way. Although, Air France certainly do…
It will mean many people opting for KLM tomorrow again, the last strike many LH passengers flocked to Amsterdam onto their flights, being next door.
Sad to see any Airline / Company, employees or Management, in this situation. So many strategies being implemented in Europe, to make the Legacy Airlines profitable again.
Neither side gains with these actions, or for PR or Company profits, let alone for the future of legacy Airlines in Europe.

Surprised that this has not featured on the Forum yet – not BA, not interesting?????I should imagine if this were a German ‘site, with German speakers as the main contributors that there would have been a huge hulabaloo about LH. I suspect this same German speaking ‘site would have less to contribute re BA.
Rgds.

BigDog.ParticipantLufthansa agrees pay deal with range of unions…

… it appears a “fair” agreement has been reached with ground staff, cabin crew and pilots….
without having to resort to Walsh’s bullying and lasting schism leadership style.1 May 2013

VintageKrugParticipantJust the usual Socialist Worker claptrap, similar to the days of Tete de Cuvee and CallMeIshmael.
You only have to see the Lufthansa share price, up just 25%, while IAG has risen 70% in the past six months, to see the benefits of Walsh’s robust position:

It is notable when VK is absent, the forum requires/receives little/no moderating.
Under Walsh, just when his strategic initiatives should start yielding value, the share price stood at over 570 – since then the value has been more than halved.

esselleParticipantI think the VK share price argument is a touch naïve.
Comparing % changes in share prices of organisations in the same sector means nothing at all, as it takes no account of where they started.
EPS, dividend, PE, for example, are much more valuable measures.
Change is share price is only relevant if you look at the point at which you bought. Thus 25% vs 70% means over 6 months means nothing, unless you bought both 6 months ago.

Henkel.TrockenParticipantKrug is just posting his usual ill-informed clap-trap. No doubt any moment we’ll have Becky along supporting him and one or two other similar handles. Best to ignore their nonsense which as usual is only posted to try and start a row.
Thanks for the info on LH BigDog, I must say I’m relieved about my forthcoming trip to ADB with LH. I’d almost decided to rebook on TK as it’s a holiday we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and the idea of disruption was something I was willing to do anything to avoid.
It does seem as though the LH settlement is fair and there will not be resulting ill will from crews for years to come. Then again Christoph Franz is a skilled manager of people and resources. Probably one of the best around.

JohnHarperParticipantI’m glad the strike is settled without further disruption but as Mrs JH has just said, it was fun, for us at least while it lasted!
