    16-July, 2014 Onwards Lufthansa will fly the 747-800 from Mumbai-Frankfurt !

Thank God they are retiring the 747-400 which was long overdue on this sector. !!

    Cheers,
    Moadweeb.

    Hello Moadweeb

    Thanks for the news.

I’d like to mention that while it’s good news overall, the latest B747-800 does not have the “seat and a bed” product in first class which has been widely praised by our readers and is only offered on the B747-400.

The other question to ask is how long the B747-800 will remain on the Mumbai route. Lufthansa has indicated that it is keen to bring its A380 to India later this year. Maybe it will first appear on the Delhi route ?

More confirmation from today’s The Financial Press that Lufthansa will launch A380 flights to India next October-November

The idea is to better compete with the Gulfies but it is unclear whether the A380 will be used to Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore.

Of all the European airlines that fly to India, LUFT is one airline which for whatever reason always gets a lot of good karma by Indian passengers (Air France being the worst). As an Indian, I’m glad they’re moving into the A380 decision quick enough. My guess, based on passenger loads and potential revenue is that they’ll go with Delhi first. That’s where most of the rich people fly to. Bengaluru/Bangalore is really for techies and Indians based in N.America visiting home for the holidays!
