Great to hear from a new face (well, name!) on this forum.

I visited Norway for the first time ever this year on a cruise that took us up to the Arctic Circle? Which part of Northern Norway are you from?

I did a lot of travelling this year as well but more and more I tend to go to the same places for work. Another trend is sticking with LX and LH wherever and whenever possible.

So not much new stuff for me other than a short-haul pop with Philippines airline. Was totally ok.

    New airports visited:
    – TRN
    – MNL
    – DPS

My top 2 airlines remain SG + LX.

Wishing everyone all the best over the holidays.

Another new experience for me, was flying over Greenland and actually seeing the ground, rather than just cloud. What was fascinating was I could see the glacier entering the sea. Never seen that before and I have (hopefully) attached a photo.

A more quiet year than usual:

    69 sectors
27 airports – new ones were Kyiv, Hannover and Cartagena
12 airlines, only Avianca was new

Also 7 long-distance train journeys (long-distance = I might well have flown, for example London – Köln)

New experience – my first trip on a 380

Go-arounds – three, two at LCY and one in Madeira

    Best long-haul, SAS – worst long-haul, BA

Best security, TLV – worst security, Brussels Midi Eurostar

45 flight segments, similar to last year, mostly UK/Scandinavia to SE Asia or Germany
No new destinations – unless you include Karlsruhe Hbf (KJR) as part of a Lufthansa Air/Rail ticket (LHR/FRA/KJR).
I even got 1000 SAS Eurobonus points each way for the FRA/KJR leg.
Got to experience Qatar’s poor on the ground customer service first hand at Hamad a couple of weeks ago – an extremely painful experience to say the least, completely wiping out any customer service good will created by the onboard experience

Apart from a minor office tidy up, I am now done for this year. Like most, my sector count was down – mainly due to my business concentrating in the Far East and avoiding Europe and the USA.

Only 1 new airline, Vietjet and one new destination Da Nang.

May I wish everyone a Happy Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice OR of course, if nothing celebrated, a fabulous restful few days.

I hope 2020 will bring us all health, wealth and plenty of happiness.

Thank you BT for continuing to support this fabulous Forum.
