I have zero problem with bags being inspected by the TSA, post check in, but I have serious problems when carefully and securely packaged items, positioned carefully in the case are not repackaged properly and a heavy bunch of TSA security keys were left as a momento.

The result – all the securely packed items were smashed.

This was not a BA issue, but their only suggestion was to make a complaint to the TSA.. oh… the security keys were confiscated so they could not be sold on Ebay..

Sounds disastrous but surely you could have kept the keys to exchange once they’d made good the damage….they did, in any case, give them to you, and I assume that this extra item was found when you returned to the UK – none of the uk authorities business.

The keys and damage were only noticed in London after the bag was collected. BA did make a report and confirmed they had authority to retain the keys and return them to the TSA.
