discovery of a World War Two ordnance

Why does the discovery of an old gun close an airport?

Or is it that our modern CEOs are ungrammatical.

As ‘ordnance’ is singular (plural ordnances), The Mayor of London apparently could do with brushing up on the use of the definite article.

I shall start a thread with a more accurate title!

An appropriate title for this thread……

….can’t find any information of the closure of BAs third busiest airport on BA.com. So much for “customer service” …. proves a point!

And this just received directly from the BA press office:

“We are doing everything possible to minimise disruption for our customers following the closure of London City Airport.

“We are rebooking customers due to travel today onto alternative flights or offering refunds for those who no longer wish to travel.

“We will be updating ba.com with the latest flight information and are encouraging customers to check the website for more details.”

Let’s remember the brave people who will be dealing with this nasty and potentially unstable device – the RN mine warfare specialists.

A vote of thanks goes to them, from me.

Woke this morning to see numerous messages from BA re LCY being closed and my flight cancelled . I was already rebooked with a link to the reroute. Quick call to Gold Line and re routed again at my request. Now arriving at LHR my preferred arrival point. Seemless and quick, excellent service and a positive from a negative.

    Good customer service, I guess.

Rather than adding this to the new story, I’ll post in a few updates we’ve had from airlines

Luxair flights to and from London City Airport

Traffic to and from London City Airport might still be disrupted on Tuesday, 13th February, following the discovery of a WWII bomb. In case of disruptions, Luxair will operate its flights to and from London Southend airport instead of London City. Concerned passengers should contact the Luxair Passenger Assistance Desk (+352 2456-1) for further information.

Was due to travel with British Airways from LCY-AMS, automatically rebooked from LHR instead. Interesting though that this meant the complimentary catering that was included in the LCY ticket price, was suddenly not included on the new flight from LHR…
