Lion Air B737-900ER Economy

    An an average American, 5’9″/175cm, when I sit in a Lion Air seat my knees touch the seat in front. Fortunately no one has ever tried to decline their seat in front of me. That’s how Lion Air gets 220 seats when Southwest, a discount carrier in the US places only a 137 seats in the same aircraft!!!

    Southwest doesn’t operate 737-900 series. Their fleet has 76 Boeing 717’s for AirTran, and a total of 607 737’s of the -300, -500, -700 and their largest and newest member the -800. Seating is 143, 122, 143, and 175 respectively in the 737 fleet. The -900 series was originally planned to customers at 189 passengers normal configuration, , so 200+ in a LCC is no surprise,
