Editor Tom Otley has just completed this report.

More details will be added when available.

Readers who check with Ba.com will find that bookings for short-haul flights from Heathrow are not possible *at time of writing* (1500 hrs August 1).

BA takes all short haul departures from Heathrow off sale until August 8

Airlines like to drip-feed bad news. This is a case in point.

They’re not even pricing longhaul travel. Looking at 14th to 23rd August to California / Dubai / on GDS and no fares and checked a few other routes yesterday and no pricing given for any class of travel.

What is interesting is they will price on AA flight numbers to the US.

This has now been extended until Aug 15th.
With such high fares already in place BA is making a fortune with fewer passengers…a simple ploy!

That assumes people will pay those ridiculous fares. As an example BA Club World to Singapore in mid Oct just shy of GBP 9,600. Who in their right mind would pay that for such a second rate business product i.e 8 across. The fares do drop to sensible levels in November when Singapore returns to double daily

Great way to alienate your domestic clients who are not within striking distance of LHR or LGW.
Would they be doing this if it wasn’t during the school holidays I wonder?

You raise a good point JJames3.

But I also wonder what short-haul transfer passengers must be thinking … especially those making domestic to international connections at LHR ?

So BA stands to lose many millions in revenue if travellers take sixth-freedom carriers from regional airports.
