The reason AF fares are ( generally ) lower than KLM s especially in Premium is that AF has a lot more seats to sell across its network with a huge fleet and a large expansive network than KLM ….that makes KLM a bit more cautious and willing to sell at the best possible yield in order to ensure survival on the long term ..the same goes for LX vs LH …..however it does NOT always apply coz LX is doing fantastically well in Premium long haul with a better product so far than LH s ….so far ….I like the Business lounge of AF at 2E in CDG ……i was always very well welcomed there and used all the facilities ….looking forward to sampling the FIRST product at 2E …..i heard and read it is awesome ….has anybody tried it so far ?

No, not lucky enough to travel in First. But yes, I am agree and I am very happy with their product and services both AF and KL as well as Delta and SkyTeam’s future member GA (to join in 2013).

I am pretty sure once KL opted the new J the price will jump especially if it is a flat-bed, except if AF follow them. Nevertheless, Both offer good value and service and I am looking forward to travel with them this Summer.

However, lets refer back to the initial discussion on KLM New WBC. What features would you like to see in term of seat and cabin?

Good point Vertrek!….what I hate about the KLM 777- is that the biz class still has 2-3-2 ..this is insane !!!!…in our era in 2012 …I love their 747 ,their A332 ,and looking forward to the A333 ….i wish to see that 2-3-2 done away with FOREVER ..moreover ,a nice lounge/bar area or even an area to socialise since KLM is very much into getting people together like the seat and meet initiative ( i like it ) and I don t like to be isolated for 10 hours in a private cocoon …..yes some privacy but still some mingling ( I am a sales person and made a lot of customers and friends on board and in the lounges ) ….also ,a self service corner for pekich passengers ……VERY IMPORTANT is the SPACE !!!!!……and flat bed !!!..horizontallllllllllllllll….

Great ideas!

From the news it seems like the new product will be a 180* Flat-bed product, it is just the design is still in production and more information will be publish in the second half of the year.
Space and flat-bed. As they are catering to the need of the Dutch, I would assume the seat will have to be longer and wider than the standard J as the Dutch is the tallest in the world!

It seems like most of the top airlines has gotten it right, I wonder if KLM can differentiate themselves from the rest and come out with a completely new concept of Business class.
