There have been 4 new Airbus A350-900’s branded HKA and owned by DAE Capital (their usual leasing partner) parked up at Toulouse since October 2018 with 3 more in various stages of production with one already undergoing flight testing.
Seemingly there is little prospect of HKA ever being in a position to take delivery and with it major shareholder HNA also unable or unwilling to provide funding.
The leasing company looks now to have taken action to clear ‘the stock’ as two frames look to have suddenly found a home with Fiji Airlines who according to the Airbus order and production information never had any A350’s on order. The fit out in Fiji’s marketing blurb shows the same cabin fit out as HKA although the colour palet may be different.
Interesting to see who opportunistically takes the other frames.
Cathay have in the past been known to take advantage of these situations
