Any recommendations for domestic route HGH to PEK? Air China, China Southern, Shanghai Airlines, Hainan? All seem to have worrying reviews on the review sites? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I’d strongly suggest considering the high speed train for this journey.

While it can take 5-6 hours, I think there are a few trains per day that make the journey in sub 5 hours. I suspect it won’t be much longer (if any) in total travel time than time spent in the airport, on the plane etc. Possibly quicker given the potential for ATC delays.

In my experience the trains are punctual, smooth with 3 travel classes to choose from (at least on the Beijing – Shanghai route). Would definitely recommend.

Airline wise, they really are much of a muchness. All likely to suffer the same ATC conditions. Mornings are generally a better time to fly, IMHO, as delays tend to build up throughout the day.
