If registering for Double Miles, you must select Points and Variable Miles or Points and Fixed Miles as your earning style; if registering for Double Points, you must select the HHonors Points and HHonors Points earning style. “Double Points” means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay.

Which offer did you try to sign up for, VK? I did ‘Double Points’ from the above link and it worked perfectly (which is, admittedly, quite surprising for Hilton!)
